The Opening Ceremony of InterWeighing 2010

On April 22~24, 2010, the InterWEIGHING2010 was held successfully at Hunan International Convention & Exhibition Center which is located in Changsha. Over 290 exhibitors enthusiastically participated in this exhibition. These exhibitors come from 22 provinces of Mainland China and from USA, Brazil, UK, Germany, French, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Russia, Poland, Japan, Korea, India, and from China Taiwan and Hong Kong. The exhibition venue was chosen in Changsha city of Hunan province, not in Shanghai as an international metropolis, so some people were worried that maybe the amount of exhibitors and the exhibition area will decrease. In fact, lots of exhibitors have much confident with this exhibition, they actively registered to attend the exhibition, the amount of exhibitors increased 2.1% than 2009. The exhibition’s booth area was 8800 square meters, it increased 2.75% than 2009. Custom-built booths were 2/3 of the total exhibition area. During the fair period, the Weighing Technology Seminar, China Weighing Instrument Association 2010 Annual Meeting, and the meetings of CWIA Technical Expert Committee, CWIA Professional Committee of Rail Weighbridge, CWIA Professional Committee of Vocational Education were convened.

The opening ceremony of the InterWeighing2010 was held at 9:30am on April 22 in the square in front of the exhibition hall. The opening ceremony was host by Mr. Liu Xiaohua, the secretary-general of CWIA. Mr. Cao Liping, the vice president of CWIA gave an opening speech. The following guests cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony:

  • Government officials
    from Department of Metrology, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of P.R.C
    from Changsha Municipal People’s Government
    from Hunan Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision;
  • Mr. Zhang Jinyao, president of China Weighing Instrument Association;
  • Mr. Jay Visco, president of National Industrial Scale Association from USA;
  • Mr. Huang Tiancheng, president of Taibei Weighing Measurement Commercial Association.

Vice presidents of China Weighing Instrument Association also took part in the opening ceremony in the podium.

Thousands of visitors & exhibitors attended the Opening Ceremony of InterWeighing2010

According to incomplete statistics, the number of professional visitors amount to 8,000 people who come from 50 countries worldwide and every province of China. 80% of the visitors were non-local Changsha. 11% of the visitors came from outside China or from Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan. By the impact of volcanic eruptions in Iceland, lots European visitors already planned to attend the exhibition had to cancel the travel plan, so the number of overseas visitors has been affected. Well-known European metrological service NMi was forced to cancel their booth.

During the exhibition, the organizer held weighing technology seminars. The main content of these seminars was below:

  • The applications and solutions for network control terminal in the weighing industry
  • The application of weighing transmitter in PCL
  • The application of constant feeder in information
  • The  low-carbon road for commercial weighing instrument --- a breakthrough of solar energy technology in the field of weighing instrument
  • The application of PICOSTRAIN specific software in digital load cells
  • Ultra-low power/ high-precision electronic scale’s dedicated chip SOC
  • The application of Fujitsu single-chip microcomputer in weighing instrument
  • Unattended automatic measuring system

The InterWeighing2010 focused on showing the newest weighing technology and products R&D by exhibitors from around the world, which include all kinds of scales, balance, weighing system, indicator, load cell, testing instrument and device, electronic component and materials used in weighing instrument. These exhibits reflected the latest technological achievements of weighing industry in today's world, meanwhile, showed current development level of weighing industry in today's China. The exhibition also had been concerned of many users of weighing instruments. Many business people from metallurgy, chemicals, machinery, transportation, food, oil and other industrial systems, who used weighing instruments a lot, came to visit the exhibition in succession. Many trade companies and distributors came to the exhibition for trade talks with the exhibitor. In order to accelerate the pace of development, some weighing enterprises sent their staff to the exhibition to get latest information, exchange experiences and explore cooperation. Many exhibitors and customers signed supply contracts or intent contracts on the exhibition. They expressed satisfaction with the exhibition, and commend the exhibition had a real effects in enterprises promotion, technology exchanges and products launch to markets. The exhibitors felt that they were reap a huge harvest from the exhibition, and showed intention to attend next one. They hope the organizer could promote the exhibition into a world-class level international professional exhibition.

Since 1995, China Weighing Instrument Association has organized 11 International Weighing Exhibitions in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao and Changsha. This strongly strengthens economic & technological exchanges and cooperation between China and international weighing industry. Made a tremendous contribution to introduce advanced technology and equipment for China weighing enterprises, to promote the production, process, technology advances, to speed up the adjustment of product structure, and to promoting the trade development. In recent years, in addition to being in 2009 global financial crisis there is a little decline in profits, China's annual exports of weighing products increase at a double-digit growth rate. In 2009, according to China Customs statistics, the export of weighing products has reached USD690 millions.

The InterWeighing2010 was closed successfully. China Weighing Instrument Association will actively prepare for the Interweighing2011. We believe that in the strong support and active cooperation of the CWIA members and weighing enterprises, the InterWeighing Exhibition will achieve great success and become better! The InterWeighing2011 has been scheduled at 22-24 April 2011 in Shanghai, China.
